Sewing - table runners with coffee themed squares cut from panels

I made two table runners as well with the coffee themed squares I trimmed out of panels.  I framed three of them using a diamond fabric in medium brown.  It finished at about 12.5" x 27.5".  I added two layers of flannel as batting and used a red coffee fabric as backing.  I used a wavy pattern all the way round the square to add some quilting as well as around the edges of the brown frames.  It is sort of Christmasy in its colour scheme so would serve well for every day as well as the holidays when used on the other side.

For my second one I used images trimmed from the other set of panels which were more subtle in their theme with only a bit of red in some of the squares.  Again I used the diamond medium brown fabric to space them off from each other and then added a subtle Christmas fabric as a backer.  I used diagonal lines to quilt this piece as well as adding stitching around the squares and inside where I could.  I used 2 layers of flannel as batting.  This one finished at about 32" x 12.5".  Therese

Sewing - Christmas - Winter themed potholders

These potholders feature my very first made from scratch quilt squares from an idea I found on line.  I chose the fabrics and cut the pieces and sewed them up!!!  I added two layers of flannel and one of terry cloth for batting and a blue fabric for the backing.  They turned out very well!!  I added cord hangers because I think they are cute enough to be hung as art when they are not being used.  Theres

Sewing - coffee themed potholders from panel images

I brought these coffee panels home earlier this year from our fabric sorting and they have been patiently waiting to be transformed into merchandise.  I ironed and cut apart all the individual images.  Some had duplicates, some coordinated and others were singles.  I set them out into pairs and started sewing potholders.  I used coordinating fabric for the backs and made up four sets.  I really love the images!!!  I used two layers of flannel and one layer of terry cloth for the batting and brought the backers to the front for binding them   The last set has red coffee fabric on the back.   Added cording for hangers - I think these will want to be hung as home decor when they are not being used!!!!!!  Therese

Sewing - made some Christmas potholders with the beautiful holly fabric

I made two sets of Christmas potholders for our upcoming Gramma Africa sales in the next month.  Sales were very brisk at our Chili for a Cause event in October and some item sold out  I used a very subtle Holly fabric for the backs which framed them very well.  The red star fabric matched the holly berries well.  I did 4" squares and then some HST for the second set.  I added a cording hanger which allows them to be hung like art.  Easily cut off if a person does not need a  hanger.  I used two layers of flannel and one layer of terry cloth.  Made a very good thickness.  Therese
