Making up cards for my stash from card kits. These were featured in my March cardmaking class. The fun little greeting is a digital from Desert Diva which I sized and laser printed on white cardstock. I sponged the edges to coordinate with my card elements, distressed them before adhering it to a rectangle of green cardstock. The strips where adhered to the green layer using double sided tape and then the edge was covered with an embossed strip of orange cardstock. I adhered this large layer to a mustard card and then added the greeting using 3D foam tape. The strips were trimmed like banners to finish off the card.
For my second card the horse digital is from Beccy's Place. I layered orange and purple behind my image and added an embossed line and a pierced scalloped edge. I added a little coordinating oval font greeting punchie as well.
Two more to add to my stash! Therese

A friendship card that features serendipity collage, a stamped greeting in an oval opening
For this friendship card I started with this large piece of embossed serendipity collage from my stash. Serendipity is lots of fun and uses up your little scraps of paper to make a very cool piece of paper which you can use in your future creations!! I die cut an oval opening in it and mounted a stamped greeting in behind. The original stamp (SU) has only "friend" so I added "my" using an alphabet stamp set in the same colour as the original. I used gold embossing powder on the flower and dots to reinforce the gold theme from the collage. I washed it with a bit of watercolour as well because it was quite bright and I was wanting a more subtle look. With my greeting in place, I layered the collage onto an embossed brown layer (TH) and then the large element to a dark red card front. I am having lots of fun creating one of a kind cards!! Therese

Friendship card with embossed handmade paper, a blingy heart and a stamped heart punchie greeting
Yet more stash cards!! For this one I embossed a quarter sheet of handmade paper (made it myself) with a flourish embossing folder. I love the subtle look of it!! Added white seam binding across the width tucking the ends to the back than stitched it all the way around to a white card with purple thread in my sewing machine. I added a layered heart shaped greeting. I started with a large glittery heart which I gleaned from a commercial card, added a stamped heart shaped punchie greeting layered to a purple die cut with scalloped edges. Makes a great card for a friend for almost any occasion!!

Friendship card that features a layer from a commercial card!
I loved this wonderful card front from a commercial card that was donated to me for cardmaking!! The poppies are beautiful and glittery!!
I trimmed the card to size and added a little green strip to the right hand side before gluing this large element to the front of a pink card. Quick and easy!!!! The message continued inside the card so I trimmed it and added to the inside because it was so nice!!

Friend handmade card with a great digital greeting and some fun digital colour printed paper!!
I am making cards for my stash and decided to make a few for special friends when the time is right!! This one features a large greeting by
Desert Diva which I laser printed onto white cardstock and trimmed to size. I wanted to see if I could get the yellow "Friend" to stand out more but unfortunately the green water colour I applied did not help any. It took me a bit of time to see what could be done to salvage the greeting but I finally decided to stamp over the letters with a small stamp set. That worked better than I had expected. I used my tracing wheel on the four sides to add some texture. I added a yellow label punchie which was cut in half and mounted each piece to the long edges and then pierced the edge with a push pin. I tucked in a dark blue half circle in the center of each one and finished off the greeting with a clear rhinetstone in each half circle. Pretty happy with that! I adhered a quarter sheet of decorative paper (Pixabay) to a coordinating card front and then mounted my embellished greeting over it. Pretty happy with the over all look of this one! I am stretching my comfort zone using large greetings. Therese

Hammered botanicals as backgrounds and focal elements for these cards along with simple greetings
These two cards feature "Hammered botanicals" backgrounds which I made last year using my Big Kick and some flowers and leaves from my garden and yard. I trimmed my backgrounds and layered them onto green cardstock. For the first one, I added a laser printed vellum greeting to which I added a couple of lines of piercing using my pattern tracing wheel before folding the ends to the back and securing with tape. I mounted this large element to a coordinating purple/pink card. For my second card, I added a coordinating shimmery ribbon securing the ends to the back with tape as well. I sponged the edges of my laser printed greeting (Melonheadz) with pink and layered it onto green and trimmed. I distressed the edges before mounting it to my background using 3D foam taper and positioning it at an angle. I added 5 clear rhinestones - three on the left and two on the right. Again, I mounted this large element to a coordinating purple/pink card. With a bit of experience from last year I will probably try a few more of these backgrounds again this year.

Stash busting - a highly texture embossed background made with scraps, stamped focal element and greeting
The scraps I used on this card were leftover from some fun brayered backgrounds (Kaleidacolour - Creole Spice) I found in my stash a while back. I mounted the five little rectangles to a piece of purple cardstock and embossed it with an allover pattern embossing folder (Lattice -SU) and mounted it to a coordinating green card front. I went digging through my image stash to see what I could find to coordinate and this is what I found. Stamped with a background and leaf in green and trimmed into a rectangle. It fit perfectly on my background!! I found a stamp set with this friendship greeting when I was looking for something the other day and made note that I should use it. I stamped it in navy on white, punched with an oval punch (SU), layered it onto a silver scalloped oval punchie (SU) and mounted to to my card front using 3D foam tape. I am really happy with how this one worked out!!!!!
I have mined my stamp sets for greetings which I have overlooked because they are part of a set. I found all sorts of really nice saying that I will now incorporate into my cardmaking. Therese

Quick and easy handmade card for a friend
Needed a few cards the other day and made them as quick and easy as I could.
I found this background in my stash. It is preprinted scrapbook paper with three different layers which coordinate beautifully. I trimmed the piece to size and adhered to a dark red card front. I perused my stamps to find one that would be suitable for making a friend card and lo and behold I found one I had never used before. I stamped it in brown on yellow and punched it out using the Decorative Label punch (SU). I punched another one from dark brown, cut it apart and adhered the piece to the back of the yellow one to create a highlight on both the left and the right. I mounted the greeting onto my card front using 3D foam tape and found that it needed a bit of something so I watercoloured the flower and the dots and added clear glitter gel pen dots all the way around the edge as well. That was better!!!!!!!!!!! Therese

Washi tape, a stamped greeting and a few sequins over watercolour
I have experimenting with washi tape cards and here is another one!! I used my DIY foam stamp to create the background using a blue Distress ink pad on white cardstock. I stamped the little greeting in black Versafine ink once the background was dry. I added three little strips of washi tape, two of which I made myself using double sided tape and tissue paper. Love how it looks! I watercoloured the greeting and added three little coordinating sequins before mounting the whole thing to a turquoise card front. I don't believe I have ever used this stamp before so this last little cardmaking session has been good in getting the dust off some of my supplies!!!

All occasion cards created with reused calendar pages
I was needing a few all occasions cards and found an old calendar in my stash. This one had been donated to me a while back for cardmaking so I thought I would see what I could make using it. I started with this harbour scene which I thought would make a nice birthday card!! I trimmed the image down to size (4" x 5.25") and punched an opening in the bottom section using the Modern Label punch (SU). I tied a length of 1/8" ribbon between the opening and the left hand edge. I mounted this large element to a yellow card and adhered a little laser printed greeting punchie (SU) in the opening so it was nicely framed.
For the next two, I trimmed the images from the calendar pages. For the hot air balloon card, I added a strip of gray and a green scalloped edged border below that to finish off my top layer. Wanting to add texture I used my tracing wheel on the green border and pierced all the scallops with a push pin. I mounted this layer to a blue card. I added a little word window punchie greeting (SU) with double sided tape over the gray strip and my card was finished. For the sailboat card, I adhered the large framed image to a yellow layer which I manually embossed on the bottom to add some texture. At the last minute I decided to add the little laser printed font greeting to the bottom of the image so I carefully lifted the edge and inserted it using double sided tape to secure it to the back of the image and the yellow layer. I had previously trimmed the bottom edge of the greeting with scallop decorative scissors and pierced each scallop with a push pin to add interest and texture. I glued this large element to a red card front and I had finished another card!!

I glued this large element to a red card front and I had finished another card!!
For the lake scene card, I trimmed the image to size (4" x 5.25") then simply stamped "my" with an alphabet stamp set and then mounted the "friend" die cut below it. The die cut actually says "friends) so I simply cut off the "s" to get what I needed for this card. I love the colours!! I mounted this large element to a pink card and I was done!!
For the next card I trimmed the lily pond image to 4" x 5.25" and added a length of narrow yellow ribbon before adhering it to a green card front. I tied on an extra length of the ribbon to the one on the front using a single knot to simulate a bow. I layered a small laser printed greeting over a red Modern Label punchie to create my greeting and mounted it over the ribbon using 3D foam tape.
For the next two, I used the Word Window punch (SU) to create an opening in my trimmed images (4" x 5.25") and added a length of ribbon from the opening to the left hand edge. I tied the two ends with a double knot to finish the ribbon. I mounted a stamped greeting from the back so that it would appear in the opening and secured it with regular tape. I mounted my finished card fronts to coordinating cards and I had another couple cards ready to go.
I am pretty happy with my cards and glad to have reused some wonderful art!!

White embossing on watercolour paper - bright cheery cards!
These two cards were made up from kits I found on my desk from this class. I love these!!! I simply added watercolour until I was happy with how they looked and left them to dry. For the left hand card I stamped and clear embossed a friendship quote (SU) in the center section of the background and then added three flower sequins in coordinating colours using tiny brads. This focal element was layered onto coordinating cardstock and then onto a black card front. For the right hand card I added a coordinating organza ribbon and tied a short end to the bottom section to simulate a bow before adding a laser printed chalkboard greeting over it using 3D foam tape. I glued this layer to a coordinating cardstock and then onto a black card front. I have a few more kits from this class so expect to see them in the next little while!! I really fun technique!! Reusing cards to create fun new ones!
These cards were created using parts of used cards which were donated to me for my cardmaking efforts. The one on the left is a a friendship card and was cut from the front of a large card. I added a green border on the right hand side which I punched with a scallop border punch and then added some iridescent glitter glue to coordinate with the glitter on the rest of this cute ladybug card. I ran my pattern tracing wheel a few times in between the glitter dots and the card front I had glued my border to. This focal element was glued to a coordinating card front and I was done!! The card on the left has a front trimmed from a large card leaving the central oval image of a cute kite flying mouse intact. I wrapped some green crochet thread around this layer and added a layered punchie greeting over it. I adhered this large focal element to the front of a coordinating card. Two more for my stash!! Ready made card fronts and a friendship card
A friend of mine donated these cards to be used in my cardmaking efforts. They are A2 sized so presented a bit of a challenge when trying to refurbish them into the same size.
I found place for a greeting on the first one. I stamped the greeting on vellum, embossed it in gold and then punched it out with a circle punch. I added a gold flower sequin with a small gold brad. Afterwards, I decided to add some coral crochet thread which I wrapped around the layer slipping it under the greeting and tying it off to the left. I glued this large focal element to the front of a brown card. I was not able to find a way to embellish the other card front so I simply trimmed it smaller and also glued it to a brown card front. The message is uplifting and positive!!! Therese

Friendship card made up from a card kit
I have a few card kits from my last class sitting on my desk and thought I should get those made up before the class next week. I started with a green card front and layered on a stitched background which I created with strips of handmade paper in yellow and purple. The cute little butterfly and the friendship greeting (digital) are from Melonheadz and were laser printed on vellum. I watercoloured it on the back using the least amount of water possible to cause the least warping possible. Once it was dry, I adhered the two decorative punchie pieces to the vellum and then adhered this element to my card front using double sided tape.

Scrappy backgrounds for quilted looking cards
I dug out my scraps the other day and made a whole bunch of backgrounds. I used straight edged scraps and glued them down to a substrate of paper or cardstock one at a time next to each other until the whole surface had been filled. I trimmed as I needed to the edges or to make the pieces fit. I embossed them once they were dry.
Here are some of the cards I made with the backgrounds I created.
The greetings are digital images from Mud Maven Designs. She has some very cool greetings on her site!! Worth checking out!!
I trimmed my background to 4" x 5.25", added a two lengths of scallop lace with pink ribbon between them. I watercoloured the greeting, layered onto dark pink and adhered it to my card over the ribbon. I layered two silk flowers and adhered them to my card front using a yellow brad. I love that the greeting has a little graphic!!
For this card I thought the greeting was most appropriate!!! I trimmed my background to 4" x 5.25", I glued several short pieces of ribbon to back of the image and then stitched it to the background. I glued this large element to the front of a black card. I watercoloured the flowers on the greeting - adds a nice touch to have the graphics included with the greeting.
For this card, I trimmed my background to 4" x 5.25", added a brown gros grain ribbon cross the top portion and glued it to a blue card front. I watercoloured the greeting, layered it onto a rectangle of green cardstock leaving extra on the right hand side which I punched with a scallop border punch (SU). I added two lines with a glitter gel pen and then a little drop of blue glitter glue in each of the scallops to finish it off.
I really love the look of these backgrounds and they are super easy to make and use up scraps. A great activity to do with the kids or with a group of friends when you are wanting to be creative together. Therese
