Christmas card featuring a beautiful angel painted with shimmer watercolour, a border punched layer and an aqua and gold gift wrap background

This is my last card in the bunch which I created with the reused aqua and gold gift wrap which arrived on one of our gift this past holiday season!  For this card I used an image from my stash of this beautiful angel which was stamped in brown.  I coloured it using shimmery watercolours in coordinating colours.  Love how it turned out!!  I mounted it to a piece of aqua cardstock leaving a large border on the right.  I used my MS doily punch to decorate the right hand side and then added two embossed lines using my Score tool.  I mounted my aqua and gold gift wrap background to an ivory card and then adhered my large angel layer to it. Done!  It has been great fun to play with stamps and a lot of my supplies to make these cards.  I am very happy to be so far ahead in getting my Christmas cards ready for next Christmas!!!           Therese

Birthday card featuring a fun cupcake with a star and some ribbon flags

A fun card for one of my grandaughter's birthday which is coming up soon!!!  I started with a large envelope and created an off white card to fit inside.  I cut the piece of polka dot red paper for my background and decided to embellish it.  With a black Sharpie I added some hand drawn circles and three dots in all the large circles and put a single dot in the each small circle.  Next, I coloured all the circles in with yellow.  Finally, I used the open end of a nerf bullet to stamp red circles in between all the other ones.  The result adds some pizzazz!! I adhered it to my card front.  I laser printed the cute little cupcake (Melonheadz) after adding the birthday greeting, trimmed it to size and then watercoloured it using shimmery paint on the icing and a clear glitter gel pen on the dots and the swirl at the top.  I ran my tracing wheel on three edges and just below the greeting on the bottom.  I punched the bottom with a scallop punch (SU) and then added four shimmery embellishments in the four full scallops.  I layered it with red cardstock and added seven little red checkered ribbon flags on the right hand side.  To finish off my card I used 3D foam tape to adhere this focal element to my card front.  I like how the star echos the little yellow circles in my decorative paper.          Therese

All occasion card featuring a dragonfly, some pearly and clear dimensional paint and a little gold cording

 For this all occasion card I started with a dragonfly digital image from CLKER which I laser printed onto white cardstock and trimmed out of the letter sized sheet.  I watercoloured the sky and then the dragonfly using pearly paint so it would shimmer.  I tied the tiny gold to the right of the image and then layered it onto a green/gold metallic paper.  I left a bit of a border on the bottom which I trimmed with wavy scissors.  I paper pierced the wavy edge and then added a line of scoring above it using my Score tool.  I mounted my focal element to the front of a speckled navy card. I added clear dimensional paint to the wings of the dragonfly and left it to dry overnight.  It has turned out wonderfully!!         Therese

Cards from card kits featuring decorative backgrounds, tags with laser printed images, watercolour and ribbon

These are the final card kits from this class!!  They were originally all tags but I took some creative license and adapted the supplies to suit my current vision - happens to me all the time!!  I have hard time making lots of the very same!!

The cards feature decorative paper on coordinating card bases.  I added a strip of embossed cardstock to three of them.  Flagged the ends on two of them.  On the fourth one I added another layer of cardstock, flagged the ends, added a length of ribbon and glued the remainder tied with white thread to the middle of it.  I cut two of them into tag shapes, the other two I trimmed off the top portion and corner rounded the corners on one of them.  All the images (cups - Cre8tive Hands, dress and cake - Michelle Perkett) were watercolours some of them with shimmery paint!!  I just tied the ribbon onto the tag slot on the cups card, I added the ribbon to the corner for the dress one, used a distressing tool on the first cake one and stapled the ribbon to the tag on the last one.  A bit of variety from the same supplies provided in these card kits!!

Christmas cards from foil gift wrap from the season

 A few more cards from the gift wrap I collected at the Community Christmas dinner!!  Thanks to my neighbour who very carefully unwrapping her gift so I could have the paper!!  For these two cards I glued the gift wrap to scrap paper and then embossed them with two different snowflake embossing folders before trimming them to fit on my red cards!!
For the first one, I coloured the JOY in light blue shimmery watercolour, distressed the edge and adhered it to the front of the card using 3D foam tape.  I die cut two leafy branches (TH- SX) from silver foil cardstock and mounted one above and the other below which very nicely yielded a wreath shape.  Love the way the paper looks embossed and the little branches looking like a wreath!!
For the second card, I coloured the JOY using a pink/red shimmery watercolour, ran the pattern tracing wheel around the edges and mounted it to my card front using 3D foam tape.  I added a little silver foil star punchie using 3D foam tape as well.  Really happy with these two!  Therese

Christmas cards with gift wrap from gifts

We attended a Community Christmas dinner on Christmas day and our neighbours won a prize!!  I loved the paper so she very carefully unwrapped it so I could reuse the paper!!  It was beautiful foiled paper in this diamond pattern!!
So for this card I trimmed the gift wrap and glued it to scrap paper to give it a bit of weight and then trimmed it to size for my green card.  As foil is want to do you can see the little areas where the glue was a little heavier which I found a bit disappointing.  I hoped that they would be less visible when the glue dried but not really.  Anyway, I added a silver ribbon from top to bottom and tied the ends together on the front.  After trimming the ends, I added silver shimmer paint to the JOY on this laser printed greeting which I had in my stash.  It is a fun font to use for large greetings.  I ran my tracing wheel on all four sides before mounting it to the front of my card using 3D foam tape.

Christmas card featuring a stamped angel, torn scrapbook paper and a small greeting

This card features three pieces of torn scrapbook paper glued to a dark blue card front.  I added a strip of blue cardstock that coordinated with some of the snowflakes.  The angel (SU) I found in my stash and watercoloured to coordinate with my paper.  I layered it with two different colours of cardstock which I embossed before adding my image.  I mounted this element to my card front using 3D foam tape and then added a small punched (Word Window - SU) font greeting which was sponged to coordinate using double sided tape on the left and 3D foam tape on the right.

Birthday card featuring stars, ribbon and a laser printed chalk greeting

I made this  card for my son's birthday!!  I started with a large envelope and made a white card to fit inside.  I found this blue colour printed background paper in my stash and thought it would work well.  I cut it to size, added a black ribbon and adhered it to the front of my card.  I added a wide variety of stars from tiny ones to a large gray multi die cut one!!!  I mounted the large one with 3D foam tape after gluing all the stars together on the back with tape.  I mounted the others with white glue using a fine tip applicator.  After they were dry I added the greeting which is a digital image which I laser printed and trimmed to size before tucking it under the edge of the star and adhered it in place using double sided tape.  I finished off my card by adding glitter and shimmer!!  I added pearly shimmer paint to the medium stars, clear glitter with a gel pen to the second smallest die cut in the large star and a silver foil confetti to the star on the right.  Perfect!!  A blue sky full of stars will be perfect for him!!        Therese

Father's day featuring a funny digital, some watercolour and bright background paper

 This card is for our son in law for Father's Day!!  I am stretching my creative muscles and going out of my comfort zone with images and paper. 
I thought this image was funky!!  It is my Anne's Cards 4U.  I chose a large envelope and made a dark blue card that fit inside.  I added the fun party background paper, trimmed it and glued it to the card front.  I printed the digital image with a font greeting onto white cardstock, trimmed it out and watercoloured it.  I added a faux stitching border, a small piece of coordinating ribbon and adhered it to my card front using 3D foam tape. 
I am usually much safer and coordinating with my images and colour choices so in an effort to stretch my creativity I decided to be a bit bolder.  I used the red flag and the blue bag to echo the colours in the background paper.  I used a clear gel pen on the metal and glass parts which adds a bit of shimmer which works well.          Therese

Sympathy card featuring a layered butterfly embellishment, organza ribbon and a layered greeting

Friends of ours have lost family members on both sides this week so I made up this sympathy card for them.
I started with a large envelope and created an ivory card to fit inside.  I added a very pale yellow organza ribbon to a piece of scrapbook paper which I trimmed to size and embellished with a bit of script (SU) stamping before adhering it to the front of my card.  To create the butterfly embellishment I started with a little champagne butterfly die cut which I got from my sister, Sylvia.  I found the large butterfly in my stash - it was cut from white cardstock.  I set about modifying it with watercolour and shimmer paint until it coordinated with my background.  Once it was dry, I embossed it with a script embossing folder to echo the script in my background.  I used double sided tape to adhere the two butterflies together and a piece of 3D foam tape to adhere it to my card front.  I created my layered greeting in a similar fashion.  I found the greeting my stash (colour printed & embellished with watercolour) and layered it onto a champagne oval which I had to colourwash just a little to tone down its brightness.  I layered these two onto a white scalloped oval punchie (SU) which I embellished with watercolour and shimmer paint in the same way as the butterfly.  I tied a short piece of the same ribbon to the one on the front of my card using a loosely tied single knot securing it with a piece of double sided tape on the back to ensure it did not come undone.  To finish off my card, I added my layered greeting using 3D foam tape.  It will be on its way today!!            Therese

Birthday card featuring a digital stamp, a collage background and some gold shimmer!

 For this birthday card I started with a large red envelope and created a black card to fit inside. 
I used paper scraps from my stash to created a collage background on the front of the card.  It was fun to piece it all together and see how great it worked out.  I added three little gold sequins in one of the little spaces.  I found the greeting/image in my stash.  It is a digital stamp I created which was inspired by a card I found on Splitcoast Stampers.  It was a collage of Unity Stamps.  I watercoloured the laser printed image with coordinating colours and used gold shimmer paint for one of the candles and the stars!!  Much more shimmery in real life!!  I added some circles to the right hand side of the image before adhering it to the front of my card at a bit of an angle.  Love how it turned out!!!           Therese

Large Christmas cards that feature fun ornament gift wrap, angel images and layered laser printed greetings

Another set of Christmas cards!!!!!!!!!!!!  What fun I have been having!! Stash busting at its best!!

I have chosen large red envelopes from my stash and created red cards that fit in them.  I trimmed the decorative paper from gift wrap that came wrapped around our gifts during this holiday season.  The non creased sections were trimmed out and used to make these backgrounds.    I love the kraft, reds and gold colour combination.  

For the card on the left, I used a stamped angel image (SU) from my stash.  I coloured it with shimmery watercolours in red, brown and gold.  I layered it with gold and red cardstock, mounted it to my embellished card front and added a layered oval greeting with 3D foam tape.  The greeting is laser printed and punched (SU) then layered onto a red scalloped oval punchie (SU).  

For the card on the right, I also used an angel image from my stash.  This one had been stamped and gold embossed which really worked with this paper.  I coloured it with shimmery watercolours in red, gold and brown.  I layered the image in a coordinating dark red cardstock and glued it to my embellished card front.  I mounted a laser printed oval punchie greeting (SU) over a scalloped oval punchie in red and mounted it overlapping my image using 3D foam tape.  It has to be a record to have this many Christmas card made so early in the new year!!    I will try to keep it up so I can have my cards made well in time for Christmas this year!!        Therese

Another couple large Christmas cards that feature stamped & embossed images, gift wrap and textured elements

For the next set of large Christmas cards that feature this wonderful kraft ornament paper I made cards from red cardstock to fit the envelopes and adhered the trimmed decorative paper to them.  For the one on the left, I chose a gold embossed image of three trees (Magenta) from my stash that coordinated with the paper, coloured them with gold shimmery watercolour and distressed the edges all the way around.  I found the stamped greeting in my stash as well.  I trimmed it to size and flagged the right hand side before mounting it to my card front.  I decided to echo the ornament theme by adding a small ornament die cut (SX) which I embellished with a circle punchie which I embossed using an ornament embossing folder. Worked perfectly!!  I added a length of gold embroidery thread to hang it.  I adhered it over the greeting using 3D foam tape and glued the ends of the thread to the inside of the card using double sided tape.  I mounted the image with 3D foam tape to intersect with the thread and the greeting by putting it at a bit of an angle.  

For the one on the right, I used a poinsettia image combined with a tiny greeting (SU) which was gold embossed from my stash.  I used shimmery watercolours to paint the image.  Love the effect!!  I layered it onto coordinating cardstock and mounted it with 3D foam tape over a piece of luxurious gold ribbon which I mounted to the front of my card adhering the ends to the inside using double sided tape.  It has been much fun to create these large cards and using up some of my large envelope stash.   Therese

Christmas cards - large images with small greetings and an embossed layer

A few more Christmas cards for my stash!!  These are both large images - the Santa (Cre8ive Hands) was laser printed and watercoloured after trimming to size and the cute Christmas tree (KISSPNG) with the font greeting was colour printed.  I distressed the edges of both images.  I added several loops of white fiber to the red embossed layer (SU) of the Santa one and mounted that layer to a green card front.  I added the Santa image using 3D foam tape over the fiber and then added a layered punchie greeting.  The font greeting was laser printed and punched using the Word Window from StampinUP.  It was layered onto a green punchie from the Modern Label from StampinUP as well.  I mounted the greeting with 3D foam tape on the right hand side and just double sided tape on the left where it overlapped the image.  I like the look of the shimmery paint on Santa's coat!!

For the second one, I added gold ribbon after mounting my red embossed layer (SU) adhering the ends to the inside of the card.  I tied a short length with a single knot to the one on the front to simulate a bow.  The image was mounted to the card front using 3D foam tape to finish off the card.  These were made several hours apart and I was not aware I had used the same colour scheme!!

A baby card with an embellished image, greeting and some bright decorative paper

A card for my stash and I am stretching myself a little.  I don't usually use such bright paper for baby cards but it seemed to work best of this stamped image from my stash.  I used a rectangle Nestibility die to cut a rectangle in the paper before adhering it to my pink card front.  Works really well to nicely highlight the focal element with the same colour as the card.  The image was stamped in pink and I embellished it with clear glitter gel pen in the star and some shimmery paint on the moon.  I very lightly watercoloured the dress in pink.  I used double sided tape to secure it in the opening in the decorative paper.  I embellished the stamped greeting (SU image - scallop circle punch) as well.  I added pink in the ring using a marker and then added clear glitter with a gel pen.  I added a bit of glitter to each star in the scallops as well.  Used a punch to make a mask and sponged a bit of pink ink into the central space.  I mounted it to my card front using double sided tape after sponging the outside edges with a bit of pink ink.  I am happy with my card!!           Therese

Another wedding card - a swirly wedding dress digital image with a large greeting and lots of shimmer

I loved this image the minute I found it online at OK Clipart!!  It is a most lovely wedding dress image!!  I laser printed it onto white cardstock, trimmed it to size and painted it with shimmer paint to make it really special!!  I decided on white on white for this card because wedding colours are so varied and most people want a card that goes with the bride's colours.  Going neutral makes it always appropriate!!  I embossed a white background with a flourish embossing folder, added a shimmery ribbon across the width and adhered this large element to a white card.  I added my wedding dress image with double sided tape.  I die cut the large greeting (Desert Diva) with my Nestibilities and mounted it with 3D foam tape.   I added a little flower die cut embellishment to it.  Thinking it still needed a bit of something I embellished the flower and the greeting with a clear glitter gel pen - a few lines on the flower and dots on the greeting!!  Another card I really love!!             Therese

A wedding card that features a digital cake image from CLKER, a embossed layer and some fiber

Always a good idea to have a few wedding cards in my stash and for this card I used my favorite colour scheme - green and pink!!  I started with the cake image which is a digital from CLKER which I laser printed on white cardstock and trimmed to size before watercolouring and highlighting with shimmer paint.  Once dry, I layered it onto pink cardstock.  I embossed a quarter sheet of white cardstock to create my background, tied on a long length of white fiber and tied it off with a double knot before adhering it to a soft green card.  I mounted my layered focal element to my card using 3D foam tape and positioning it over the fiber.  Love it!

Wedding card with embossing, ribbon and some shimmery watercolour

Stash building!!  I started by embossing a white quarter sheet with a flourish embossing folder, adding a white ribbon by gluing both ends to the back of the layer and adhering this large element to a white card front.  I used a wedding cake image from my stash (CLKER) which I laser printed and coloured with shimmery watercolours in silver, purple and green.  I made the colours subtle because that worked better with the white on white background.  When dry, I layered it onto a purple rectangle from which I had already punched the Modern Label (SU) layer for my greeting.  I mounted it to my card front using 3D foam tape then did the same with my layered punchie greeting.  To finish off my card I tied a short end of the same ribbon to the length on the front to simulate a bow!!

An elegant card with a beautiful white dress

I love this dress image from CLKER!!!!!!!!!  It is a classic image suitable for a wedding and/or a shower when done is white shimmer as I have done for this card.  I have coloured it in different colours which makes it suitable for a graduation card!!   I layered it onto an aqua rectangle and added three little rhinestones for a little bling!!  I embossed a white layered with a beautiful flourish embossing folder and added a coordinating vintage seam binding before adhering it to a white card.  I mounted the large focal element over the seam binding using 3D foam tape.  Always good to have one of these on hand.

White embossing resist with watercolour on these handmade cards from card kits

I have been rediscovering my desk and found some card kits from past classes so I decided to make them up and add them to my stash!!  These cards are from this class.  With the embossing already done I simply applied watercolour, layered them and added greetings to finish them off!!  Card kits make card making quick and easy!!

I watercoloured the feather in blue and green and did the script background in blue.  After the watercolour was dry I added shimmery paint in blue and green to give the feather more glitz.  I layered this element onto green cardstock and then onto the black card from the kit.  I chose to change the greeting to this laser printed one which I fussy cut and then painted with blue shimmery paint to coordinate with the feather.  I adhered the ends of the greeting with double sided tape and added a small piece of 3D foam tape in the center to give it a bit of dimension.  Very happy with how this one worked out!!!

For the other card I was careful in my application of colour to make the images really stand out!!  I started with yellow for the squares (Magenta), then green for the leaves, and finally blue for the background.  Lastly, I used several colours to finish the flowers.  Once dry, I was careful to wipe the surface of the embossing with a paper towel to remove any colour that had dried there.  It makes the white pop!!  I added a simple laser printed vellum greeting on the upper right by folding the end to the back and securing with tape and a tiny bit of double sided below the H in Happy to keep the flagged end in place.  I glued this layer to purple cardstock and then to the black card from the kit.  It was fun to change up these kits a bit.  I do have a difficult time making exact multiples of cards!!
