Christmas cards featuring a wonky tree (digital), ribbon, decorative paper and small font greetings

Another four Christmas cards to add to my stash!!!!  I downloaded these cute little trees (Craft Starters) and laser printed them while I was getting the images ready for my Father's Day cards.  I chose this wonderful decorative paper (donation from my sister) and then prepare four red cards to go with the paper.  I trimmed the laser printed images, watercoloured them and then layered them with a coordinating blue layer.  The layer is a lighter blue paper which I sponged on the edges to get the colour just right.  I added two short lengths of red ribbon on the upper right edge and then mounted my images to the cards I had layered with my decorative paper.  I added the little laser printed font greetings on the left hand edges in the curve of the tree.  I added sliver glitter star punchies over the ones that printed with the image.  They work quite well.  Very sparkly!!!  Really happy to have a few more cards in my stash!!  I am staying ahead of my commitment to making cards every month!!  I will have what I need come November.   Therese

"You are awesome" card featuring a unicorn, an embossed background, ribbon and some clear glitter

This card features another unicorn image from Pixabay.  I love his magical body!!  I sized it, added one of the greetings I created with fonts and then printed it on white cardstock. After trimming out the image I added clear glitter with a gel pen to the stars on its rump and added a border all the way around the edge.  I added three little pieces of flagged ribbon securing them with double sided tape on the back of the image.  I found this weathered brown cardstock in my stash and decided it would work with this little unicorn.  I embossed it with a swirly background (D"vine Swirl - CB) and mounted it to a light aqua card.  I mounted my unicorn image over the embossed background using 3D foam tape to finish off my card.             Therese

Valentine's card from a card kit featuring a serendipity heart, embossed background and layer with texture from a tracing wheel

Valentine's has come up so quickly!!  I was so happy to find a card kit from last month's Make and Take that I could use for DH card. 
I embossed my background using a heart embossing folder and adhered it to a black card.  I used the pattern tracing wheel on both long edges of the strip of embossed ivory cardstock before adhering it to my card over my background.  I added the serendipity heart die cut using 3D foam tape.  I dug through my little stash of greetings and found the XOXOX which I thought would work perfectly!!!!!  I flagged the end, sponged it a bit and then tucked in just under the end of the heart and I was good to go!!!!!!  Love having card kits on hand for last minute cards!!  Therese

January Cardmaking - an all occasion card featuring a serendipity leaf mounted to an embossed strip tied with a little bit of fiber

For our second card for cardmaking this month I decided to feature some serendipity paper.  I make some when I have a bit of time so I wanted to feature a few of the new pieces.

I started by die cutting the focal elements from the serendipity paper and embellishing them a bit if they needed a bit of something.  For instance, I tied a kraft cord to the stem of my leaves (TH SX) on my cards.  I adhered my background to a coordinating card front before mounting my strip of embossed cardstock.  On the first, I flagged one end, on the second I flagged both ends.  I used my tracing wheel on all the edges on the first one and only the sides on my second one.  I tied a length of coordinating fiber to the top of the strip finishing it with a couple of knots.  I adhered my leaves over the strips using 3D foam tape.  My second on has a layered greeting and I left my first one without a greeting to increase its versatility.           Therese

Anniversary card featuring a stamped heart focal element, a little punchie greeting and beautiful background paper

Working on family cards for January!!  For this anniversary card, I started with a light yellow card and a small envelope.  These envelopes were a great find at a thrift store last year!!
I found the background paper in my stash.  It was in two pieces so I taped them together on the back and trimmed them to the right size.  I added some blue mesh over the joint and then a length of yellow ribbon securing the ends on the back with double sided tape.  I adhered this large layer to the front of my card.  I punched the stamped heart (SU), watercoloured it and then layered it onto a yellow scalloped heart die cut (SU) to create my focal element.  I adhered it to my card front using 3D foam tape.  I found the greeting in my stash, sponged its edges in yellow and then layered it onto a blue oval which I trimmed with my scallop decorative scissors.  I used a push pin to pierce all the scallops to add more texture and interest.  I mounted the greeting below my heart using 3D foam tape.  Love that background paper!!  Therese

Thank you card featuring gift wrap background, a punched accent and a little punchie greeting

For this card, I started with a smaller envelope and created a white card to fit inside.  I tore a piece of this beautiful teal gift wrap (from England) and layered another piece of the same paper in behind with back facing front which is this beautiful pink colour.  You can see a hint of the pattern showing through the pink.  I punched a flower on the right hand side, flipped it and adhered it back into the opening using regular tape on the back to keep it in place.  I added a teal sequin on the front and a little silver brad to keep it in place.  I found the coordinating pink greeting in my stash.  I sponged its edges with teal ink and adhered to my card front over the torn gap using 3D foam tape.  I have enjoyed time in my craft room making these cards!!             Therese

Christmas cards from foil gift wrap from the season

 A few more cards from the gift wrap I collected at the Community Christmas dinner!!  Thanks to my neighbour who very carefully unwrapping her gift so I could have the paper!!  For these two cards I glued the gift wrap to scrap paper and then embossed them with two different snowflake embossing folders before trimming them to fit on my red cards!!
For the first one, I coloured the JOY in light blue shimmery watercolour, distressed the edge and adhered it to the front of the card using 3D foam tape.  I die cut two leafy branches (TH- SX) from silver foil cardstock and mounted one above and the other below which very nicely yielded a wreath shape.  Love the way the paper looks embossed and the little branches looking like a wreath!!
For the second card, I coloured the JOY using a pink/red shimmery watercolour, ran the pattern tracing wheel around the edges and mounted it to my card front using 3D foam tape.  I added a little silver foil star punchie using 3D foam tape as well.  Really happy with these two!  Therese

Christmas cards with gift wrap from gifts

We attended a Community Christmas dinner on Christmas day and our neighbours won a prize!!  I loved the paper so she very carefully unwrapped it so I could reuse the paper!!  It was beautiful foiled paper in this diamond pattern!!
So for this card I trimmed the gift wrap and glued it to scrap paper to give it a bit of weight and then trimmed it to size for my green card.  As foil is want to do you can see the little areas where the glue was a little heavier which I found a bit disappointing.  I hoped that they would be less visible when the glue dried but not really.  Anyway, I added a silver ribbon from top to bottom and tied the ends together on the front.  After trimming the ends, I added silver shimmer paint to the JOY on this laser printed greeting which I had in my stash.  It is a fun font to use for large greetings.  I ran my tracing wheel on all four sides before mounting it to the front of my card using 3D foam tape.

Birthday day card with a fun fold and lots of candles!!!!!

 I am getting started on my 2020 family cards as some have their birthdays early in the new year!!  I made this one for my brother.  It has a LOT of candles which were created by using strips of decorative papers.  I rounded their tops a bit by hand and then glued them all across my card.  It is a Z fold card so the back is full size and the front is folded over to the right which leaves the whole length available for decorating!!  I hand cut gold foil (Christmas chocolate) for the flames of each candle and added a wick with a black sharpie!  I had embossed the top edges with this sort of starburst design which I thought look a lot like the glow of a flame.  Next time, I will try to get the flames all in the middle of a glow which will be more effective!!  I added a length of green fiber ribbon to the card using double sided tape to secure the edges to the back and a few places along the way to keep lined up from the front to the back.  I found this large greeting in my stash.  I used the corner punch on it and on the navy layer as well.  I watercoloured the greeting, layered the greeting and the navy rectangle and adhered it to only the front piece of my card which allows it to move with the front.  I added white embossed layer to the inside for my handwritten wishes for him.  It is nice to be back to making cards!!!!!!  Therese

Christmas card featuring colour printed background paper, a border punched focal element, a little greeting and ribbon flags

For this card I used supplies from my stash.  These are from a digital SU set which I colour printed a while back.   I trimmed the background paper and mounted it to a red card.  I trimmed the little greeting from a full sheet of images and mounted it onto a layered background of red and aqua cardstock.  I adhered my image, embossed a line and punched the botttom edge with the Eyelet Border punch (SU).  I added double sided tape to the upper right hand corner of my image and added three little pieces of flagged coordinating ribbon.  I adhered this focal element to my card front using 3D foam tape and then added the little font greeting punchie to finish off my card.   Therese

Quick and easy card featuring the Manhattan embossing folder, some ribbon and a small greeting

I made up these card kits for my Special Card Class in May.  These are quick and easy yet quite a versatile design.  I embossed the neutral layer with the Manhattan embossing folder (SU) and added a length of organza ribbon before gluing this layer to a coordinating card front.  I trimmed a section off of the green one before adding the ribbon which allowed room to the right for the little Word Window greeting punchie.  For the blue card, I simply added the greeting below the ribbon where it was frame with the ends.        Therese

Making up cards for my stash from card kits.  These were featured in my March cardmaking class.  The fun little greeting is a digital from Desert Diva which I sized and laser printed on white cardstock.  I sponged the edges to coordinate with my card elements, distressed them before adhering it to a rectangle of green cardstock.  The strips where adhered to the green layer using double sided tape and then the edge was covered with an embossed strip of orange cardstock.  I adhered this large layer to a mustard card and then added the greeting using 3D foam tape.  The strips were trimmed like banners to finish off the card.
For my second card the horse digital is from Beccy's Place.  I layered orange and purple behind my image and added an embossed line and a pierced scalloped edge.  I added a little coordinating oval font greeting punchie as well.

Cards featuring decorative paper, three embossed layers and a floral embellishment

A few more cards for my stash.  I made these up from card kits which were also featured in my September cardmaking class.  The large decorative papers were glued to the coordinating card fronts and the three pieces of cardstock were embossed with three different embossing folders.  I corner rounded some of the corners to provide a little variety in the look of the layers.  They were arranged on the card fronts to make a pleasing arrangement and then glued in place.  The 3D embellishments were created by layering silk flowers adding punchies/sequins and then held together with a coordinating brad.  These were applied to the cards using 3D foam tape.  To finish off my cards I added the greetings.  Card kits are so quick and easy!!      Therese

Christmas cards featuring reused panels with ribbon and greetings

A few more cards for my stash of Christmas cards!!  

This first one features a small card front which was square so once trimmed was just the perfect size to layer onto my green card front.  I added a black layer to which I adhered the Santa image and the layered laser printed greeting.  The second card features an image trimmed from the center of a large card.  I fussy cut the two corners with an exacto knife so I could slide on my stamped greeting.  I added a little holly brad on the right before gluing this large element to the front of a red card.  

My third card features art from a friend of mine years ago.  I simply trimmed the card front, added a red ribbon gluing the ends to the back and added a little laser printed font greeting which I had trimmed with scallop decorative scissors and used a push pin to paper pierce the scallops.  I simply tied a short end of ribbon to the front using a single knot to simulate a bow.    Therese

I found this tissue/freezer paper star cut out in my stash of Christmas card making supplies.  It was from a card I made a while back and worked perfectly with this colour printed background paper.  I glued the decorative paper to a green card front and then gently glued the star tissue paper over it.  I added a layered laser printed greeting created from a font greeting oval punchie (SU) over a gold scalloped oval punchie (SU) adhered with 3D foam tape.  A fun blast from the past on this one!!

 A few more cards!! Using up a stash of donated cards!!
First card, trimmed the card front, punched an opening on the top right hand corner, tied on a short length of white fiber before adhering it to the front of a pink card.  I added a small font greeting into the opening which was punched with the Word Window punch. 
Second card, I trimmed the card front and needed a bit more length so I added another piece of gold cardstock on the left hand side which I had trimmed off of a previous card.  I added a piece of red satin ribbon over the joint and then mounted this to a coordinating green card.  To finish off I added a layered font greeting on the lower left hand side using 3D foam tape. I sponged the oval greeting punchie in green and layered it onto a red scalloped oval punchie to create the greeting.

 Made a few more Christmas cards using my stash of donated used cards.  These were relatively quick in that I simply trimmed them, added a layer if necessary and then a little font greeting.  

First one, a simple trim of the card front which I adhered to a blue card and added a small greeting. 

Second one, a trimmed card front with a small layered font greeting.  

Third one,  trimmed card front with a layered oval greeting created with oval punchies.  

Fourth one, added a little border of green foil on the left hand side, a purple layer adhered to a light green card front.  Added a small sponged font greeting embellished with some faux stitching using a gel pen.  

Fifth card, trimmed the card front, added a red layer and then a small layered font greeting created using a Modern label punch and a Word Window punch.      Therese 

Birthday card featuring colour printed leaves, a font greeting and some fiber and eyelets

Another card for upcoming family birthdays.  I started with another large envelope and created a green card to fit inside.  I digitally altered the leaf image (CLKER) by adjusting the colour to get the three colours - green, yellow and red.  I sized and arranged them in Corel Draw, added a font greeting and printed it on white cardstock.  I trimmed the image from the letter sized sheet and added some texture using my pattern tracing wheel.  I love the look of it!!  I cut a piece of brown cardstock and then tore it to create a gap and then added eyelets and red fiber to make an interesting design element.  I glued this tied up layer to the front of my card and then mounted my large image over it.  Have not used eyelets in years but really happy how this turned out.  I am enjoying making large cards.

I always appreciate having card kits on hand because when you need cards on short notice you don't have to start from scratch to get some cards made.  I made this card for a friend who invited us for dinner and I know that always appreciates handmade cards as she is always blessing those around her with special greetings.  

For my thank you card I dug through the stash on my desk to see what I had that would work together!!  I found the greeting first. I trimmed it's ends and ran the tracing wheel over it to give it some texture.  I found the background and the black card in my little stashes of precut papers on my desk.  Too easy!!  I layered the background onto the front of my black card and decided to add two black brads to my greeting before adhering it to my card using 3D foam tape.    Therese
