Sympathy card

My uncle passed away last week.  He had just recently had his 90th birthday.  I made this sympathy card for his family.
I started with a light blue cardstock which coordinated with my image - a off cut from an invite I had in my stash bucket on my desk that I thought was perfect in colouring for this occasion.  I stamped a circle background stamp all the way around the edges on the front using Versamark ink which was exactly what I was looking for in intensity.  I added a large rectangle of darker blue which I embossed with a floral embossing folder (Darice) and then I added a length of coordinating green ribbon across it and glued both ends to the inside of the card.  The ribbon  slides into a slit on the spine of the card which I cut with my slot punch (SU) - works perfectly every time.    I adhered my image over the ribbon using 3D foam tape on the right hand side and double sided tape on the left to accommodate the thickness of the embossed layer.  I punched out a laser printed greeting, layered it onto a Modern Label punchie in a coordinating green and mounted it to the front of my card using double sided tape.  Very happy with how it worked out and I hope it will be a comfort for those who are grieving.

Another calendar with birdie photos

 I made another birdie calendar with the photos from my second 2014 photo calendar.  Here is the first on I made.  I have enjoyed the calendar all year on my desk and have now given it a new life and it will bless someone else this coming year.  I wanted this one to have a lighter feel so I used blue cardstock (8.5" x 5.5") and stamped it on the top portion with a newspaper text background stamp (IO) using Versamark ink.  Because it darkens the cardstock colour it always coordinates.  It was just as much texture as I was wanting.  I trimmed the blue bird images (4" x 4") off the original photo calendar (4" x 6") and layered them onto 4.25" squares of black paper before I glued them to the top of the calendar pages.  I printed another of the calendars I created for the first one, trimmed them to leave a slim border and glued them below the layered photos.  I added a length of wide white gros grain ribbon in between and added a little flower sequin with a brad on the left hand side.  I added all the flowers before I used double sided tape to affix the right hand side of the flagged ribbon which covers the back of the brad from the other side.  I added a silver bull clip at the top to keep the pages together.  The calendar can now be hung on a pin or nail, attached to any metal surface with a magnet or will stand on its own on the bottom edges of the pages.

 Here are the rest of the pages I created for this calendar.  Again, this is a double sided one  - January to June are on one side and July to December are on the back.

 
I have really enjoyed creating these calendars for gift giving this year.  I have more ideas for next year!!

Four Elf shoe Christmas cards for me!

Cleaning my desk!!  I unearthed the remnants of this card this week and finished off another four elf shoe Christmas cards to add to my Christmas card stash!!  My last count (May) I had 74 so that brings my stash to 78 cards ready to go for this holiday season!!
I used a green sharpie to colour clear rhinstones for three of my cards because I ran out of the green ones I used before.  You can see in the photo that the ones on the left are a bit brighter - they are the ones I coloured with Sharpies!  What a great cost saving technique!!  Just buy clear and colour what you need!! I used glittery rickrack, flocked ribbon and added an embossed greeting to my cards.  A note:  Always thermally emboss BEFORE you use Versamark ink on your cards!!

Shoe shaped card!

I joined a "Shaped card" swap on AFTCM for a SHOE!!  There were so many possibilities but in the end I found an elf shoe card on Splitcoast Stampers that was really cute so I decided to make one of those.  I made my own pattern and traced it onto a top folded red landscape card and cut it out.  I added a piece of white flocked ribbon which I trimmed by hand into little flag ends. I glued it to the top of my shoe using double sided tape and trimmed it to the edge of my card.  I used double sided tape to create a doubled rick rack embellishment to go over the white and positioned it mid way between the flags and the top.  I added large green self adhesive rhinestone bling to the bottom of each flag - perfect!!  I embossed my greeting using silver embossing powder and then decided the whole thing needed a bit more texture so I stamped the shoe with Versamark ink using a snowflake background stamp.  On hind sight, I should have reversed the order of this process so that the stamping was done first and the embellishing of the top done last.
I will be making a few more of these for my Christmas card stash!!  They are really cute!!!
