A baby card that features a cute little elephant, a fun greeting tied on with fiber

For this baby card I used a laser printed digital stamp from Melonheadz which I watercoloured to coordinate with my other elements.  I mounted it to a purple rectangle of cardstock which I embossed on the bottom edge.  I added this double punched greeting (SU- Eyelet) which I tied on with white fiber.  I did add a small piece of 3D foam tape on the back of it to ensure it stayed in place while I was threading through the fiber.  I tied a small bow in the fiber.  I used a coordinating scrapbook paper background and mounted my focal element with 3D foam tape.

A baby card that features embossed circles, a cute stamped greeting and a scalloped border

For this baby card I used a green card front and then adhered a background which I created by combining a piece of scrapbook paper with a scalloped punched & paper pierced border in a coordinating colour.  I also embellished it with a run through using my tracing wheel to give it a bit of texture.  I auditioned a variety of circle punchies until I was happy with them and then embossed them all with the Swiss Dot embossing folder (CB) before gluing them in place one at a time to ensure their correct placment.  Next I mounted with 3D foam tape my stamped greeting which I embellished with gel pen and iridescent glitter glue on the scallops.  I finished off my card by adding some colourful and coordinating sequins using glue dots.  Love the circle theme and colour scheme.              Therese

A set of cards which feature decorative paper, flower die cut with hand cut foliage and an embossed oval as a background

I made this set of cards to package as a gift!!  They all follow the same sketch with a wide variety of colours and textures.  I started with the ovals (leftover from a Christmas card class a while back) and found decorative paper and a card which coordinated.  Next, I die cut a flower (SX) in a coordinating colour and hand cut the greenery and adhered all the pieces together using white glue in a fine tip applicator.  I punched a 5/8" circle and embossed it along with the oval.  I sponged the edge of the oval.  Now all the pieces were ready for assembly.  I ripped a strip from the decorative paper - some times lengthwise, other time crosswise.  I glued the two pieces to my card front and adhered the embossed oval over the gap.  I used white glue to adhere my flower over the oval and then the circle to the center of my flower.  You can see that there are a variety of ways the pieces can be put together.  I made them without greetings so the recipient can use them for any occasion.  

I made this set with butterflies earlier.  It has been fun to make these sets and fairly quick once you get going because all the design decisions have been made it is just a matter of getting all the pieces to coordinate.

Reused an image, added fiber and a layered font greeting

This image began its life on a commercial card and I have reused it for this card.  I mounted the colourful image to a layer of coordinating cardstock, tied on some coordinating fiber and then a layered font greeting.  I added an embossed layer to a green card before adding my large focal element with 3D foam tape.  This card came together fairly quickly which is nice when you are making a lot of cards at a time.

A card with a cross for someone's special day!

Another card with a cross for a special day in someone's life!!  This card would be appropriate for a variety of sacramental milestones such as ordination or baptism.  I found this beautifully ornate cross on line and thought it would do wonderfully for this card.  I added a font greeting and then laser printed the digital image onto white cardstock, trimmed it to size and watercoloured the image to coordinate with my colourful background (colour printed digital image).  I love that the cross looks somewhat like stained glass because of the way it is designed.  Seems very appropriate for this kind of card.  I adhered the decorative paper to a yellow card front and mounted the large coloured image to the card using 3D foam tape.  Perfect!!!

A sympathy card that features a butterfly, some fiber and a font greeting

For this sympathy card I embossed the front of my card using the distressed lines embossing folder twice being careful to align the strips and using small piece of cutting plates to limit where the embossing would happen.  I chose a piece of decorative cardstock which coordinated with the colour printed butterfly image (Pixabay).  I distressed the edges of the butterfly image and sponged them with a bit of brown ink.  I mounted it with 3D foam tape to the piece of coordinating cardstock.  To repeat the brown in the butterfly I added a thin strip of brown cardstock to each long edge of this layer.  It still needed a bit of texture so I used my pattern tracing wheel and added a line on each edge of my element.  I tied on a length of white fiber and then mounted my laser printed punched greeting which was sponged to coordinate.  I mounted this large element to my embossed card front to finish off my card.               Therese

Sympathy card that features a small font greeting, a poppy image and a tag

This sympathy card features a wax resist background with some stamped green flourishes (SU) which I made up a while back.  I tore the paper, punched a hole as far up as I could from the bottom using my Modern Label punch (SU) and then adhered the two pieces to the front of a gray green card.  The laser printed digital poppy image is from Calico Collage and was layered onto a gray green cardstock.  The end of the rectangle was not even so I inserted the one end into one of my Deco Label Thinlits and just cut far enough to trim the edge of it to create a tag!  Nice to be able to use tools in a variety of ways!  I punched a hole in the rounded end and tied on a short end of red fiber.  I mounted this focal element to the front of my card over the gap in the decorative paper using 3D foam tape and I also mounted a small font greeting in the opening that I punched which I sponged just a little to softened the edges.    Therese

A baby girl card that features digital images from Pixabay, some fun fiber and a little layered greeting

A baby card for a little girl!!!  I mounted the pink scrapbooking paper to a pink card.  I trimmed the  the pink laser printed clothesline image from Pixabay to size.  I cut a pink cardstock layer leaving a bit at the top which I trimmed with scallop decorative scissors and used a push pin to pierce each scallop.  I punched a modern label from it before wrapping it with white fiber and adding my cute clothesline image.  I mounted this large element over my background using 3D foam tape and did the same with the layered font greeting.  It was a stretch to put the greeting to the top left instead of the lower right.  I like it!!

Another card that features a cross digital image

After a request from a friend for a few cross cards I came up with this layout.  It is a cross digital image I found on line and laser printed onto white cardstock. After trimming, I watercoloured it to coordinate with the background I had chosen which is a laser printed digital image from Pixabay.  I mounted the background to a blue green card and added the layered image on the card front using 3D foam tape.  No greeting to make the card as versatile as possible and appropriate for quite a few religious occasions.

Cards for a set - decorative paper, large circles and layered butterflies

My sister's father in law passed away last week and I know that those times are often overwhelming in a family so I made up some cards which can be used as they see fit after the memorial.  

They feature decorative paper that has been torn, an embossed circle of cardstock and a layered butterfly (TH).  After I decided on the sketch I simply dug through my stash to find decorative paper which I cut to size, coordinating card and cardstock circles that coordinated as well.  I tore the paper and adhered it to my card front and then attached the embossed circles.  I found coordinating cardstock and decorative paper scraps from which I cut the small layered butterflies (TH - small butterfly thinlets).  I watercoloured  the bodies just a little bit in black to give them a bit of contrast.  This is a versatile sketch in that you can rip the paper horizontally or vertically and you can also layout your elements in either orientation as well.   Very happy with all the cards and I am sure they will be appreciated!!

Another baby card for my stash - a baby horse, a font greeting and a digital background

Another stretch for me in the area of making baby cards!!  I used a colour printed background in this fun floral pattern and mounted it to a soft blue card front.  I watercoloured the little stuffed animal image from Beccy's Place and layered it onto a red piece of cardstock then distressed the edges.  The laser printed greeting is from my stash and I embellished it with my tracing wheel before layering it onto green and adding a little red heart on the left hand side.  I mounted the greeting and then tucked my image in behind to finish off my card.

A birthday card whose focal element is die cut from a commercial card and combined with a large round greeting and some circle embellishements

Another card made from the same commercial card I used for this card. This will be my third card made by reusing this wonderful card with beautiful poppy images.  I die cut the poppies from the card with my Nestibilities, layered it onto greeting and mounted it to the edge of a dark red card.  I added a layered greeting which features an innie outie ribbon embellishment in green and a yellow  layer.  I adhered it to my card using 3D foam tape and then proceeded to add circle punchies in coordinating colours to finish off my card.  Thinking that it still needed something I added several drops of clear dimensional paint which finished it off very nicely!!!  Love it!!

A baby card that features a cute little elephant watercoloured illustration, fun decorative paper and a layered font greeting

I just love this little watercoloured illustration!!!  I found this one on KISSPNG!! I have found other wonderful ones on PIXABAY.    I laser printed the image on white cardstock and trimmed it to size.  I used a black marker to add a fine black border all the way around.  I found two pieces of this fun digital background paper in my stash and layered them to create the background for this card.  I mounted the backgroud to a red card front then mounted the image to the front using 3D foam tape.  The little greeting is a laser printed font which I punched out with the Word Window punch (SU) and layered with red before mounting it to my card in the lower right hand corner of my image.  Stretched my comfort zone with this colour combination for a baby card.

A card that reuses a card image and features embossed circle punchies

I trimmed this image from a commercial card which was donated to me for cardmaking!!  I mounted it to the upper left hand corner of a dark pink piece of cardstock and added green embossed circles on the right and bottom to make a fun layout!!  I added a little font greeting punched out with the Word Window punch (SU) to the image to finish off this large element and then mounted it to a green card front.  A much bolder version of my favorite colour scheme - pink and green!!

A baby card from a card kit - striped paper, star embellishment and a font greeting

This card was made from the last card kit I had from a previous card class.  The two pieces of decorative paper were glued to the brown card front and the font greeting was adhered to the green cardstock strip then adhered over the joint.  The little star embellishment was then mounted next to the greeting!!!  Card kits makes getting cards made really fast so it is worth making a few when you are in production mode to have available for assembly later on.  Purchasing card kits is also a very inexpensive way to get into cardmaking - all the supplies are provided and it requires minimal tools to assemble them.

More serendipity hexagons, some dimensional paint on a little dragonfly and a greeting punchie

I have been having fun with a new to me Hexagon die!!  I have cut several pieces of coordinating serendipity collage which I had on hand and chose seven for this card.  I embossed the edge of my yellow card using  this fun border embossing folder (SU) and then adhered my hexagons using double sided tape and white glue.  I trimmed this little stamped dragon fly image, watercoloured it and added clear dimensional paint to its wings.  After it was dry, I layered it onto a larger blue circle and adhered it to my card front using 3D foam tape.  I sponged a little word window greeting with blue and added it to my card using double sided tape.  Really happy with how it worked out!!

Serendipity hexagons, leaf die cuts and a round greeting with some bling!

Fun with serendipity hexagon die cuts!!!!!!  Love new tools!!  I used seven little hexagons on this card.  I embossed the top and bottom of my navy card front using a distressed embossing folder (TH) and then adhered my serendipity hexagons using double sided tape and white glue.  I added the little circle greeting which I had embellished with a blue flower sequin adhered with a tiny black brad.  This is a stamped greeting from my stash but it is just the right size to go with the hexagons.  I cut two leafy branches (TH) which I glued on using white glue on all the leaves and pressing until it was dry.  I love these serendipity hexagons!!  Though there are all sorts of great cards created with hexagons online!!

Thank you card for a special person!!

We hosted an event in the last few weeks and one person went over and above to help us out and we are ever so grateful!!  So I made this card for her!!
I started with the watercolour background which I made a while back and embossed it with a flourished floral embossing folder (QK).  I added a length of yellow organza ribbon which came off of a roll of felt which I used for a different project - bonus!!  I adhered the ends to the back of the piece and then adhered it to a medium blue card front.  I watercoloured this little laser printed flower image from Melonheadz in coordinating colours and added a bit of glitter using a clear glitter gel pen to the bee wings and the daisies.  I combined yellow and blue cardstock to create a layer for it.  I added the laser printed greeting to the bottom edge using double sided tape.  I used scallop decorative scissors on the bottom of the greeting and pierced each scallop using a push pin.  I adhered this focal element to my card using 3D foam tape and finally tied on a short piece of the same ribbon to the one on the card using a single knot to simulate a bow!!          Therese

Praying for you card that reuses a card panel

Always good to have a few of these on hand as well!!  This card features a panel from a commercial card to which I added a length of white seam binding.  I punched an opening (SU Modern Label) in the top right before adhering it to my purple card in which I added a small laser printed greeting in purple punched with the Word Window punch from SU.  I love the shimmer on this card and it's soft and subtle colour scheme.   These are always quick and easy because the large element is ready to go once it is trimmed.      Therese

A birthday card using new Spell Binders Ironworks Accent die, birthday greeting digital image from The Spruce and some shimmery ribbon

Another card for my stash!!  This one features a die cut from a "new to me" Spellbinders set - Iron Work Accents.  It is perfect for using with round greetings so I laser printed this one from The Spruce which is a fun birthday greeting.  I punched out the greeting (1.75" SU), sponged the edge and added a little silk flower with a sequin and a brad to add some texture to this card.  I adhered the greeting to the green die cut which I had embellished with a clear glitter gel pen.  The background is an embossed and sanded white core cardstock, layered onto pink foil gift wrap and then onto a green card front.  I added the layered greeting to the card using 3D foam tape.  It still needed a bit of something to I added a length of shimmery white ribbon and tied on a short length using a single knot to simulate a bow.  I used a slot punch (SU) to make a cut on th spine to facilitate getting the ribbon end adhered to the inside of the card.  Flagged the ends of the ribbon to finish off my card and that was definitely better.               Therese

Pink thank you cards for a gift

 One of our community's families had a new baby girl a few weeks ago and invited all of us to come to a pot luck lunch after her baptism.  I wanted to make them a little gift so decided on cards as the gift.  I laser printed Thank you in several fonts on white cardstock, trimmed them to quarter sheets and embossed them with the CB Swirl frame embossing folder.  I used my hand cut oval stencil to highlight the greeting, trimmed them down a bit to fit on pink card fronts.  I used several different pink inks to coordinate with several different pink cardstock to create a set of eight cards. 

After adhering the embossed layers to my card fronts I embellished them with sequins, clear dots of dimensional paint and a few dots of clear glitter with a gel pen.  Very happy with the way they turned out.  I wrapped them in tissue and tied the package with white fiber.    I have used this sketch before and am seeing how versatile it can be. You can check out these cards I made up for my last card class which use images instead of the large greeting. A few more here with a different set of images.  This set was created using Christmas images.   A mixed bunch on this post!!  A wedding card as well!!  Quite a while back I used if for these cards and these ones too.

A beautiful birthday card which reuses a panel from a commercial card with a large die cut greeting

Birthday cards are essential parts of every card stash so I am making a few of those as well.  For this one I am reusing a panel from a commercial card that was donated to me for use in my cardmaking that features these wonderful glittery poppies!!  I used the other half on this card.  After trimming the image to size I added a red strip to the right hand side and mounted this large element to a green card.  I die cut this large laser printed font greeting with my Nestibilities, sponged the edges in green and added an innie outie bow in pink seam binding before mounting it to my card using 3D foam tape.  A quick and easy card!!             Therese

An anniversary card that features decorative paper, ribbon and an image with dimensional paint.

I am trying to stretch my creativity when it comes to card making.  I tend to make anniversary cards with less colour than this one!!  I started with the background paper (laser printed digital image).  I added a red flagged piece of cardstock and layered on a gold ribbon which I also flagged on the end. I glued this large element to a red card front.  I watercoloured the laser printed digital heart border (CLKER) with coordinating colours and added clear dimensional paint to the heart and berries.  Once it was dry, I mounted it to my card using 3D foam tape and then added a little layered font greeting in coordinating colours.  It feels good to stretch my creativity and add bold colours to my cards.  Therese

Another wedding card - a swirly wedding dress digital image with a large greeting and lots of shimmer

I loved this image the minute I found it online at OK Clipart!!  It is a most lovely wedding dress image!!  I laser printed it onto white cardstock, trimmed it to size and painted it with shimmer paint to make it really special!!  I decided on white on white for this card because wedding colours are so varied and most people want a card that goes with the bride's colours.  Going neutral makes it always appropriate!!  I embossed a white background with a flourish embossing folder, added a shimmery ribbon across the width and adhered this large element to a white card.  I added my wedding dress image with double sided tape.  I die cut the large greeting (Desert Diva) with my Nestibilities and mounted it with 3D foam tape.   I added a little flower die cut embellishment to it.  Thinking it still needed a bit of something I embellished the flower and the greeting with a clear glitter gel pen - a few lines on the flower and dots on the greeting!!  Another card I really love!!             Therese

A wedding card that features a digital cake image from CLKER, a embossed layer and some fiber

Always a good idea to have a few wedding cards in my stash and for this card I used my favorite colour scheme - green and pink!!  I started with the cake image which is a digital from CLKER which I laser printed on white cardstock and trimmed to size before watercolouring and highlighting with shimmer paint.  Once dry, I layered it onto pink cardstock.  I embossed a quarter sheet of white cardstock to create my background, tied on a long length of white fiber and tied it off with a double knot before adhering it to a soft green card.  I mounted my layered focal element to my card using 3D foam tape and positioning it over the fiber.  Love it!

A card that features a woven cross with no greeting

One of my friends requested that I make several cards with crosses on them for special religious occasions.  So I started with this one which reuses a cross I made years ago for an Easter card.  It features thin strips of foiled gift wrap woven and glued to an ivory layer.  I trimmed the cross off the front of the old card and layered it onto a coordinating green cardstock and then adhered this large element to an ivory card.  This one was quick and easy.  I left it with no greeting so it would be suitable for any occasion..

A friendship card that features serendipity collage, a stamped greeting in an oval opening

For this friendship card I started with this large piece of embossed serendipity collage from my stash.  Serendipity is lots of fun and uses up your little scraps of paper to make a very cool piece of paper which you can use in your future creations!!  I die cut an oval opening in it and mounted a stamped greeting in behind.  The original stamp (SU) has only "friend" so I added "my" using an alphabet stamp set in the same colour as the original.  I used gold embossing powder on the flower and dots to reinforce the gold theme from the collage.  I washed it with a bit of watercolour as well because it was quite bright and I was wanting a more subtle look.  With my greeting in place, I layered the collage onto an embossed brown layer (TH) and then the large element to a dark red card front.  I am having lots of fun creating one of a kind cards!!  Therese

Friendship card with embossed handmade paper, a blingy heart and a stamped heart punchie greeting

Yet more stash cards!!  For this one I embossed a quarter sheet of handmade paper (made it myself) with a flourish embossing folder.  I love the subtle look of it!!  Added white seam binding across the width tucking the ends to the back than stitched it all the way around to a white card with purple thread in my sewing machine.  I added a layered heart shaped greeting.  I started with a large glittery heart which I gleaned from a commercial card, added a stamped heart shaped punchie greeting layered to a purple die cut with scalloped edges.  Makes a great card for a friend for almost any occasion!!

September Cardmaking - quick and easy cards with laser printed digital images, some sponging and embossing

This is a great go to design if you need cards in a hurry!  I print four images in the center of four quarter sheets on a letter sized piece of white cardstock and then trim them apart.  I use the Swirl Frame embossing folder (CB) and emboss around the printed image.  I have hand cut oval stencils which just fit inside of the embossed frame which I use to mask the outside edge while I sponge the inside of the oval.  It is fun to mix colours and create dimension and texture.  I used a torn piece of paper to create the horizon line of trees behind the car.  Once the sponging is done, I trim the outside of the quarter sheet to the edge of the embossing and mount this large element to a coordinating card front. I did add a bit of watercolour to the bouquet and the car to give them a more realistic look.  I did sponge a bit of yellow in the center of the flowers to give some contrast.  I usually leave these without greetings and I continue to find new images which work well with this technique.  The dandelion flowers are from CLKER, the car is from Arthur's Clip art and the little bouquet is from Beary Wishes.  I expect there are other embossed frames I could use to create a similar look but for now this one works really well.  This was our last card last night.  I always try to make it an easy one and this one qualified perfectly!!

September cardmaking - decorative paper, an image and ribbon for these birthday cards

For our second card I combined decorative paper (colour laser printed digital images) with coordinating cardstock.  Next we added coordinating ribbon gluing both ends to the inside front with double side tape.  The images were then layered and added with 3D foam tape over the ribbon.  To finish off the cards I tied a short piece of ribbon to the one on the front with a single knot to simulate a bow!!  I did add a punched and layered font greeting to the one on the right.  The pink birthday greeting is from Kisspng which I colour printed and the poppies is from CLKER which I watercoloured - both digital image sources.  This is a very flexible sketch which always makes great cards!            Therese

September cardmaking - Birds, hexagons and birch tree embossing for great birthday cards

 It is time to get back to our regular activities and so I hosted three ladies for card making last night!!  I love creating the kits and having the ladies add their own creativity to end up with cards that are not the same!!
We started with some serendipity hexagons!! The hexagon die (SX) is a new to me die which my sister was liquidating from her extras and I was happy to add to my tools!!  Hexagons have been around for quite a while and they are so fun to create with!!  Everyone took some time last night to play with theirs and they all came up with a layout that they were happy with.  We added a circle greeting that was just the right size as well.  I features stamped words (SU), a flower sequin held in place with a brad.  We just mounted them with foam tape.  You can see that the right hand edge was embossed with a birch tree embossing folder (SU) which works so well with the little birdie die cut.  The little bird die is from Impression Obsession.  I die cut it from coordinating cardstock, watercoloured the wings to coordinate gluing them to the birds and glued the whole element in place using white glue in a fine tip applicator (repurposed paint bottle).  I am happy with both of my cards!!           Therese

A beautiful rose, some ribbon and a sanded and embossed background for this anniversary card

An anniversary card for my stash!!  I sanded this white core card which I had embossed with a heart embossing folder which nicely revealed the white core.  I added a length of ribbon, layered it onto an off white layer and than onto a green card front.  The rose is a digital image from CLKER which I laser printed onto white cardstock and trimmed to size.  I added to my card front using 3D foam tape.  I found this coordinating font greeting in my stash.  I flagged the end, adhered it with the other end inserted below the rose image and added three clear rhinestones to finish it off!!  Therese

I loved this wonderful card front from a commercial card that was donated to me for cardmaking!! The poppies are beautiful and glittery!!
I trimmed the card to size and added a little green strip to the right hand side before gluing this large element to the front of a pink card.  Quick and easy!!!!  The message continued inside the card so I trimmed it and added to the inside because it was so nice!!

Quick and easy card which features a reused card front and a vellum greeting

I like making a few quick and easy cards when I am in production mode.  This one reuses a card front with some cute little robins in the snow.  I trimmed it to 4" x5.25", added a little stamped vellum greeting from my stash which I folded over the edge and adhered on the back with double sided tape before  adhering it to a green card front.  Too easy!!       Therese

A birthday floral handmade card with a decorative paper focal element and a gauze tie

Another card for my stash!!  For this one I used an element which I found in one of my boxes of unsorted bits.  It had this wonderful piece of decorative paper which features watercolour and a stamped resist technique.  I love the colours.  It was framed in a neutral cardstock layer with swirly punched corners.  The bottom edge was ripped but it was mostly covered by the elements that I added.  I started by adding a sponged border on the bottom to which added the width I needed for this card front.  I chose to mount this focal element to a pink card, added a stamped & sponged label (SB) greeting attached with a gauze tie with a double knot on the left hand side.  This gauze is so soft that it ties beautifully and adds much texture to the card.  To finish it off I added two little rhinestones to the greeting!!  I love this colour combination and it was good to use this little bit from my stash.  Not sure what the original intention for it was but it worked perfectly for this card.  Therese

Birthday card for a special little girl!!

Our youngest grandchild is having her birthday soon and I made her this card!!  I used a fun card front that features flowers and a little bird!  I mounted it on an embossed green card front and added a little laser printed greeting on the lower right which I embellished with my pattern tracing wheel!  Little girls like bling so I added two coordinating butterfly embellishments and a little heart on the greeting. 
We look forward to seeing her later this fall!!

An anniversary card that features a chalkboard greeting and a flourish!

Cards for my stash continue!!  I have been experimenting with large greetings for a while and this is one I printed a while back using a chalkboard background and a chalkboard font.  I laser printed it and trimmed it to size.  For this card I glued a laser printed digital background which I trimmed to fit on an A2 sized card.  I added the yellow flourish (SX) and nestled the greeting into it.  Worked very nicely!!  The two hearts are part of the flourish die which worked well for the anniversary theme.  After gluing everything into place I added yellow dots to the flourish using a gel pen.  Therese

Desert Diva which I laser printed onto white cardstock and trimmed to size.  I wanted to see if I could get the yellow "Friend" to stand out more but unfortunately the green water colour I applied did not help any.  It took me a bit of time to see what could be done to salvage the greeting but I finally decided to stamp over the letters with a small stamp set.  That worked better than I had expected.  I used my tracing wheel on the four sides to add some texture.  I added a yellow label punchie which was cut in half and mounted each piece to the long edges and then pierced the edge with a push pin.  I tucked in a dark blue half circle in the center of each one and finished off the greeting with a clear rhinetstone in each half circle.  Pretty happy with that!  I adhered a quarter sheet of decorative paper (Pixabay) to a coordinating card front and then mounted my embellished greeting over it.  Pretty happy with the over all look of this one!  I am stretching my comfort zone using large greetings.  Therese

Thank you card - cherry blossom digital image, embossed white core layer and a bit of ribbon

This card features a digital image from KISSPNG, a new digital image site I discovered in the last few days!!  I colour printed the image, trimmed it to size and distressed the edges.  I mounted it to an embossed layer in the same peachy colour as the flowers.  This was white core cardstock so I sanded it a bit to highlight the embossing which is a nice floral design (SU).  I adhered the image to the embossed layer, added a small piece of brown folded  ribbon using a tiny black brad and glued this layer to a dark brown one which I had trimmed with scallop decorative scissors.  I pierced each scallop with a push pin - an easy way to add texture to this card.  I mounted this large layer to a white card front and added a small laser printed greeting (Desert Diva) which I had flagged and sponged in brown to finish off my card.  Love how everything works so well together!!             Therese

Serendipity hexagons, sequins and a colour printed greeting

I made this card for a lady who has not been able to participate in our card exchange this time around but as a enthusiastic cardmaker she certainly would appreciate a card!!
I have been gifted some new craft supplies by my sister though we might yet work out a trade.  One of the items I received is a Hexagon die by Sizzix!!  The die cuts six at a time and they are the perfect size for cards!!  There has been a serendipity challenge on Splitcoast Stampers and I have been inspired by what others have done so I dug out my little bag of serendipity papers - I have made some ahead when I had the time and it has come in handy.  I chose several pieces that coordinating somewhat and cut as many little hexagons as I could out of the pieces.  Next I decided on a five hexagon layout - there are a lot of options - and chose the five from my little collection that would work best together.  I chose a yellow card front and stamped it with the Worn (SU) background stamp using brown ink.  I added some stippling with my little stamp (SU) and a warmer brown ink.  Next, I sponged the edges of my hexagons with brown ink and adhered them into place using a combination of double sided tape and white glue leaving the bottom one until last so I could glue down my greeting before put it into place.  The greeting is colour printed, trimmed and flagged and sponged a bit.  I had decided to embellish with sequins so I dug out the bag and auditioned quite a few until I had what I thought worked best.  I used glue dots to adhere them into place.  Still thinking it needed a bit of something I added some drops of clear dimensional paint on the card and drops of gold glitter on the hexagons.  With those in place it was just a matter of waiting until they were dry and the card will be on its way to her.   Therese

A birthday card that features a bluebird, organza ribbon and an embossed background!

A friend of mine asked for a birthday card for her bluebird loving friend which featured a blue bird.  I found this bluebird digital at Clipground which I laser printed on white cardstock and watercoloured.  I pieced a layer of scrapbook paper which coordinated and added an organza ribbon before adding my blue bird.  I mounted this layer to an embossed (CB) beige layer which was mounted to a blue card.  To finish off my card I added a small greeting (digital from Desert Diva) which I laser printed, flagged and sponged before adding it with 3D foam tape.    Always fun to challenge myself to create custom cards!   Therese

Thank you card with a fall leaf, fiber and a stamped greeting

I always like to acknowledge the kindness that others have bestowed on us!! 
This card features a stamped leaf which I watercoloured.  I trimmed it down, pierced the edges with my tracing wheel, tied on some green fiber and mounted it to a dark red layer of cardstock.  The green fiber adds a bit of texture.  I glued this large element to an embossed (leaves) brown card front and added a small stamped greeting on the lower right hand corner.

A birthday card that features a large birdcage embellishement, a small greeting and some embossed papers

Another card for an upcoming birthday!!  This one features two pieces of embossed cardstock for the background.  The top one has the embossed areas highlighted with coordinating inks.  The bottom piece is white core cardstock which has been embossed with a script embossing folder and sanded to reveal the white core.  A fun technique!! They are adhered to a brown card front and a strip of green cardstock which has been embellished with my tracing wheel has been adhered to where they join.  I added a little gold embroidery thread hanger to this beautiful printed bird cage embellishment before adhering it to my card front using double sided tape behind the printed areas.  I finished off my card my slipping a small distressed and sponged laser printed greeting us under the edge of the green strip to the right of the large focal element.     Therese
