Snowflake Christmas cards with fun backgrounds and embellishments

I created these using white quarter sheets from which I had cut large snowflakes (SU) a while back for other Christmas cards which featured the snowflake.  These have been sitting for a while and having been inspired by some cards on Splitcoast Stampers   which have been backing openings with cardstock strips I thought I would give it a try.  I took blue strips from my stash and adhered them together with regular tape on the back and then embossed them with a snowflake embossing folder (CB).  I trimmed it to size and adhered it to the back of my quarter sheet  and then added snowflake die cuts in the center with a blue sequin and a silver brad.  I trimmed the quarter sheet down just a bit and then added a faux stitching border using  a silver marker.  I added the greeting on the first one afterwards, but having added a thread to the second one I added it before gluing the snowflake layer to by blue card.  They worked out exactly like I imagined they would!!!

I had a stack of ivory ones that I wanted to put to good use so I decided to experiment with warm toned backgrounds to see if that would work as well.  I found scraps of these papers in my stash and thought they would work well as they had glittered elelements - reindeer on the brown and sleighs on the red.  I found those papers difficult to use as background for other images but they worked quite well for adding sparkle to these snow flakes.  I added paper piercing to the brown one and faux stitching with a gold marker for other.  To finish off the cards I added gold fabric snowflakes with gold brads to the centers before adhering these large elements to my card fronts.  Got quite a few cards made with these backgrounds.  

A few more cards using this concept with a wide variety of backgrounds.  It was fun to pick through my stash of Christmas backgrounds and find those that worked well.  You can see that I added die cut snowflakes to the center of some and the others got gold fabric snowflakes.   They all got a border treatment - paper piercing or gold faux stitching.  This process did speed up the process of getting more cards made faster!!  The stash of snowflake openings is gone!!  That was worth doing!!  Therese
