For these three cards I started with brown cards in slightly different colours to coordinate with the different backgrounds I used. The top one is scrapbooking paper, the bottom left is decorative paper which I stamped with two different maple leaf stamps and the third started as a letter press background (brown ink on ivory cardstock) I printed a while back and was embellished with watercolour, stamping, and embossing before I was happy with it. The burlap squares were cut from a larger piece and the edges were frayed. I saved the threads for using on future cards. In this case, I tied several strands to the leaf stems. I used a good layer of glue (glue stick) on the back of the burlap to adhere it to my card fronts and pressed them while I was getting my leaves ready. The leaves were cut a while back from a variety of leathers I had on hand at the time which is why the colour of the leaves vary. I wanted to add some texture to them so I used a wood burning iron with a very fine tip to incise the veins into my leather leaves. I was not sure it would work very well but I am very happy with how they turned out. I mounted the leaves to the burlap with double sided tape. Really happy with how these turned out.
